Walking and Hiking in Cambrian Mountains, Wales, UK

Our unique and historic hostels are perfectly located in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains and close to the Cambrian Way. There are walking and hiking routes from both of our hostels to suit all levels of ability. Both Dolgoch and Ty’n Cornel hostels have walking paths starting from the door or a short car ride away. The Doethie valley, close to Ty’n Cornel, is one of the gems of Wales and is suitable for longer walks or family picnics . There are also multi day treks along the Cambrian Way or to link up with a series of bothies in the upper Tywi and Elan valleys. As well as the public footpaths, much of the higher land has open access for walking. This means that walkers can go where they like, but be warned that it is best to avoid the boggy, tussocky areas as they are very hard going.

Our hostels/bunkhouses are perfect for walkers, hikers and trekkers. We are well used to helping walkers to dry out their muddy boots and hang wet clothes to dry off. Our volunteer wardens are knowledgeable about the local area and will be able to recommend a route. There are around 20 walking guides covering walks for all abilities from each hostel..
