Family breaks in our Hostels in the Cambrian Mountains, Wales, UK

Take your family back to an era before mobile phones, the internet and computer games. Enjoy quiet walks, visits to local attractions or secluded cycle rides and then return to a cosy evening round our log burner to read stories, play board games or just relax to the sound of a crackling wood fire.

Dolgoch and Ty’n Cornel Hostels both offer budget family accommodation in unique locations in the Cambrian Mountains. Private rooms can be booked at both hostels. Dolgoch has 4 and 6 bedded rooms available and Ty’n Cornel has an 8 bedded room which can also be booked for sole use by fewer people. (Enter the dates you require on our booking page and you will see how this works!) Families are also welcome to camp at both hostels, Ty'nCornel also offers a self contained shepherd's hut which is ideal for small families.

The self catering kitchens at both hostels are really helpful for families on a budget. Both hostels offer comfortable lounge areas, ideal for the whole family to relax in and a selection of board games, books and activities. For the younger family members there are exciting treasure hunts at both hostels. Playing and racing toy boats in the stream at Ty’n Cornel is also a favourite. There are also low level walks with buggy access at the near by Cors Caron nature reserve.

Neither hostel has internet access or mobile phone reception to distract from enjoying the simple pleasures of spending the day in the beautiful countryside of mid Wales before returning to prepare the evening meal, followed by a game or a story around the cosy fire.

"I camped at the hostel hoping to 'get away from it all' for a couple of nights and boy did I ever!! It was an amazing experience - views outstanding!! The directions were clear on how to get there so due to my 'no service' I was able to arrive safely and find my way home!! The hostel had everything I needed - toilets, showers, heating etc. I will definitely be going back!"
